Introduction to Community Care Law

Community Care law provides the legal rules and guidance governing support from social services for people with care needs. This course will help you to understand what factors need to be considered when deciding whether a council has met its legal duties. It will also cover related areas such as support from the NHS for people with continuing care needs, support for carers and charges for services.
In particular this course includes:
- - The principles of community care law and the legal duties of social services to assess need for community care services and provide services to meet assessed needs
- - The rights of the client in the assessment and service provision process
- - The various mechanisms available to individuals to enable them to enforce their legal rights
