This is an excellent opportunity for a LPC/BPTC graduate to work as a Helpline Paralegal. We are looking for someone to start immediately. The main duty of the role is to staff our telephone advice helpline which receives calls from disabled people, their families and carers. The Paralegal will triage calls by clarifying the legal issue and determine if DLS can assist, often callers are distressed and you must be able to handle calls with tact.
The Paralegal will provide legal advice in community care law and first tier employment law – training will be provided. There will be additional administrative responsibilities such as assisting with the updating of factsheets or the website etc. Where there is capacity there will be the opportunity to gain exposure to billing legal aid cases and some casework under the supervision of a solicitor.
There is flexibility in the hours for this role. Please indicate on the application form which of the following you would prefer:
• 21 hours (usually over three days)
• 21 hours, but available for overtime
• 28 hours (usually over four days)
